Together, making the human right to water a reality throughout the world
We are on the last steps towards the 9th World Water Forum, scheduled for 21-26 March 2022, under the theme of “Water Security for Peace and Development”.
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Senegal has remained steadfast in its willingness and commitment to host the world community in Dakar, in order to place water at the heart of multilateralism and international policies, to build effective response mechanisms to multifaceted crises and the construction of a resilient, prosperous and stable post-Covid-19 world.
The duty to change our world questions our ability to act, and in time! In the current context where global warming increases the risk of major sociopolitical crises while having adverse effects on the environment, rural areas and transboundary river basins must also receive special attention from the international community.
At the Dakar Forum, the global community will benefit from the lessons learned and share innovative experiences from the “Dakar 2022 Initiative” projects, with a view to accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It will therefore be a mutual enrichment with Senegal, the host country, which has made a lot of progress in these areas by implementing concrete initiatives and responses for universal access to water and sanitation, but also in terms of cross-border cooperation.
Senegal will be honoured to welcome the numerous leaders experts and participants from different regions of the world, to make the human right to water a reality everywhere in the world.
Welcome and excellent Forum to all!
